Telecoms New Zealand to launch LTE 700MHz in August

Incumbent carrier Telecom New Zealand, in the midst of changing its name to Spark, said Tuesday it intends to launch 4G LTE services in late August using the recently acquired licence for the 700MHz spectrum band. The move will supplement existing 4G services on offer in limited regions using the 1800MHz band.

Telecom New Zealand invests in app startup

Telecom New Zealand’s startup incubator, Telecom Digital Ventures, on Monday made a strategic investment in mobile application developer App La Carte. App La Carte was launched in November 2012 when its founders spotted a gap in the market for businesses and organisations prepared to pay a monthly subscription to use an easy-to-use app builder to put together their own app.

API specialist Apigee scores $60m for big data development

US API developer Apigee this week secured a further $60m in funding, bringing its total raised to data to $171m for big data analytics development.
